From new york to idaho

Matt was born on Long Island in New York where he grew up going to the beach in the summer and sledding in the winter. After attending college in Rhode Island at Providence College, Matt moved out West and met his wife in Corvallis Oregon. He journeyed back East to attend law school, but only made it to Mississippi, where he lived and worked in Oxford until graduating from law school in 2006. Matt settled in Boise with his wife and currently lives in Eagle with his wife and two wonderful children. He would rather be camping by the lake or river, but loves working with clients to help them achieve their goals.

unique EXPERIENCE

Matt graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2006 and began his legal career in Idaho with a judicial clerkship with Judge Ronald Wilper, Fourth Judicial District for the State of Idaho.  Following the clerkship, Matt worked for a well-respected Boise law firm. Matt formed Stacey & Parks in 2019.

Matt began his career with an emphasis on litigation and has extensive experience in motion practice before the state and federal courts in Idaho.  However, after a few years of honing his litigation skills, Matt began to focus his practice on real estate transactions and representing governmental agencies, most notably urban renewal agencies.  He has also provided legal advice to other political subdivisions, such as cemetery districts, flood control districts, and irrigation districts.

Through his work with real estate developers and urban renewal agencies, Matt developed expertise in real estate development and financing structures for large scale commercial real estate development projects and private-public development partnerships and worked on some of the largest projects in Idaho, including the maintenance and development of the Grove Plaza in downtown Boise, Library Square in Nampa, the Zions Bank Building in Boise, the Afton condominiums in Boise, the Pioneer Crossing project in Boise, and a recent project in downtown Idaho Falls involving a partnership with a developer and the Idaho Falls Urban Renewal Agency to construct a public parking garage and commercial buildings.

Matt also represents both landlords and tenants in lease negotiations for commercial and residential properties and reviews and advises clients on leases and construction and development agreements.

In addition to a real estate and business transactional practice, Matt still regularly appears before the courts in Idaho in real property litigation, construction law, collections law, civil rights cases, and commercial litigation.

Matt has argued before the Idaho Supreme Court and prevailed in an appeal pending involving a case of first impression concerning the doctrine of equitable servitudes.
